Aquamarine is a semi-precious gemstone with a beautiful tropical water tone. You may know more about members of its family such as emeralds, morganite, all part of the beryls family.
A LITTLE HISTORY
Aquamarine's cool blue hues are reflected in its name, which comes from the Latin for "sea water". Medieval sages prescribed water touched by aquamarine for a host of ills, including those affecting the eyes and lungs. They promised the virtues of insight and ofresight to the gem's wearers. Aquamarine crystals can grow to huge sizes, and are ususally blessed with excellent clarity. Gem body colors range from greenish blue to blue-green in light tones. Brazil supplies the ost aquamarine to teh modern market.
AQUAMARINE JEWELRY QUALITY FACTOR
With a hardness of 71/2 to 8 on Mohs scale, Aquamarine stands right under currundums such as sapphires, and with its toughness graded as good, makes Aquamarines a great choice for jewelry makers.
A few important factors when selecting Aquamarines for jewelry:
TECHNICAL ASPECT AND MAINTENANCE
Few people outside the gem industry realize the true nature of a gemstone’s journey from the mine to the counter of a store. Whether the gem is being offered to consumer’s at a traditional jewelry store’s counter, an internet shopping site, or a television broadcast the journey always involves a great deal of effort. Tons of earth and countless hours of labor are needed to being a gem from mine to market. samNsue will only offer genuine earth mined Aquamarines, most commonly heat treated, this treatment is stable and permanent and undectectable.
Most beryls including Aquamarine are oil magnets, if worn on a daily basis while maintaining your daily activity such as house chors, workout, gardening etc...Aquamarines may attract all kind of residue and make it appear milky and unattractive. We recommend taking your ring or jewelry off during those activities, but there is an easy remedy if you get your Aquamarine dirty, a simple home made cleaning tips: https://samnsue.com/blog/how-to-clean-morganite-jewelry
